WEST CHESTER — The West Chester Vietnam Memorial Scholarship Fund, was created as a tribute to the valor of 11 hometown heroes. Founded by the Gold Star Families and the Vietnam War Veterans, this scholarship serves as a testament to the bravery and sacrifices made by these extraordinary individuals who gave their lives for our country.
This fund aims to preserve the memory of these fallen heroes by awarding a scholarship to a deserving student each year. The scholarship is granted to a senior from West Chester Area School District or Bishop Shanahan High School, who has a family member with military experience.

This year the fund awarded two scholarships to students from B. Reed Henderson High School in West Chester. Aviana Tida Poy and Preston Lubeski were each awarded $500. Aviana’s father & Preston’s grandfather served in the US Army. Aviana’s father was a Staff Sergeant and instilled invaluable life lessons that have fueled her passion for government and political science. Preston’s grandfather’s experience as a Specialist 4 medic in the Vietnam War serves as a profound source of inspiration for Preston’s chosen path in healthcare.
The West Chester Vietnam Memorial Scholarship Fund honors these remarkable stories of courage, determination, and selflessness. By supporting deserving students who are driven by their family’s military connections, the fund ensures that the spirit of those who gave their lives for our nation continues to thrive in future generations.
